Halving Homelessness: Think Tank Ballarat

Did you know an estimated 75 people are sleeping rough in Ballarat each night? Or that another 300 to 400 people are sleeping in insecure accommodation?

Leadership Ballarat & Western Region, Committee for Ballarat, and UnitingCare Ballarat have joined forces to present Halving Homelessness: Think Tank Ballarat on Thursday, August 18.

The event will see the Ballarat community work together to come up with new and innovative ideas to halve homelessness in our great city.

It will be held at Housey Housey, 12 Armstrong St Nth, Ballarat between 4.30pm and 8pm.

On September 8, these ideas will be presented to representatives from the homelessness sector, local businesses and community organisations, who will select the best concepts to potentially develop and implement further.

 Rug Up Ballarat

A big thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, shopped, danced, ate and played at last month's Rug Up Ballarat Winter Festival at the Ballarat Mining Exchange.

Presented by LBWR, the two-day event raised almost $3000 for Breezeway, UnitingCare Ballarat's meals for the homeless program. This money will provide 350 meals for our city's most vulnerable residents.

Plans are already underway for Rug Up 2017, so pencil in July 15 and 16 on your calendar now.
